About the Museum
The East Alton History Museum is located in the Fred H. Bright Jr. Vital Services Building, 2nd floor (above the police department) at 211 N. Shamrock. It opened March 4, 2017 and boasts 15 rooms with various themes that touch on different aspects of village history.
All village residents are encouraged to visit the museum during operating hours.
The History Museum committee is made up of volunteers who have donated hundreds of hours to prepare the museum. Volunteers staff the museum.

Don’t miss a special dedication for the Illinois State Historical Society-World War I War Horse marker that will be happening on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 10:00am at the East Alton Library, 250 Washington, East Alton, IL 62024. Light refreshments will be served after the dedication.
