The East Alton Fire Department is a combination Fire Department. Its full-time staff includes Fire Chief, two Captains, one Lieutenant, and three Engineers. The station is staffed 24 hours per day by two personnel, 365 days a year.
The department also is assisted by seven Paid-On-Call and seven Part-Time Firefighters, which are called upon to assist in fire responses. These firefighters are trained professionals much like the career members. All Firefighters go through a rigorous training program and become Basic Firefighters certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office. Many also receive EMT-Basic Certifications.
The Fire Departments’ response area is approximately 5.475 square miles in size. A large part of our jurisdiction includes Olin Winchester and Global Brass and Copper, INC.
Our Station is located at 209 N. Shamrock and houses our truck fleet of one pumper and one 75-foot ladder truck.
The East Alton Fire Department responds to approximately 1200 calls per year with about 70% being Emergency Medical responses.
The East Alton Fire Department is always looking for anyone who may be able to participate in Paid-On-Call firefighter positions. We require a high level of physical agility and commitment, so, if you think you can make the grade, please stop in or give us a call. We’ll be glad to provide you with more information.
