PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICER
The Village of East Alton, Illinois is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of
PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICER
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Over 21 and under 35 years of age, except as otherwise provided by Federal and State Statutes.
2) High School Diploma with any one of the following, or GED with any one of the following:
A) Two (2) year Associate Degree or the equivalent in college credits (60 semester credit hours or 90 quarterly hours);
B) Prior law enforcement experience – One (1) year, full time, post-law enforcement academy experience with a recognized local, state or federal law enforcement agency; or
C) Prior military experience – Two (2) years of continuous active duty experience with the United States Armed Forces and have, or are eligible to receive, an honorable discharge. (Candidates tested before discharge will be required to present an “honorable discharge” before hire).
3) Meet all standards as required by statutes, ordinance, and East Alton Fire & Police Commission regulations.
4) Capable of passing an extensive background investigation.
5) Able to provide a valid Power CARD at the time of testing (candidates who have previously graduated police academy training will not need to provide a CARD)
