2009 Madison County Park & Recreation Commission Grant(PEP Grant)
(Diamond #2 backstop / fencing, surveillance camera system, spring toy, log roller)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,490 grant through the Madison Count Park & Recreation Commission to replace Vanpreter Diamond #2 backstop, replacing side line fence with taller fencing for safety, purchase spring rider playground equipment, log roll equipment and assist with expenses exceeding the grant allowance for this year’s, 2009, poured rubber surface grant.
2009 Madison County Recycled Poured Solid Surface Playground Grant
(Lions Park rock-wall, merry-go-round, spring toys, log roll, climber, 5th surface grant)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a grant valued for $16,000 through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to replace the fall surface under multiple pieces of equipment, new and old. This is the fifth project for the Village of East Alton and is located at Lions Park directly behind the Keasler Recreation Complex. The foundation for this product was once again prepared by the East Alton Public Works Department, saving the Village over $15,000. The product is then poured and set on top of the rock foundation, which gives the playground a quality low maintenance fall surface. This product brings a lot of color to the park.
2009 Madison County Recycled Content Park Equipment Grant
(2 picnic tables, 6 benches, 3 trash can units, speaker podium)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $5,804.68 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to purchase a two more picnic table, 6 benches, 3 trash can units and speak podium all made of the recycled plastic materials.
2009 Madison County Venue Grant
(four 55 gallon recycling center, six 30 gallon receptacles, two 48 gallon receptacles)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $4,553.14 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to purchase server recycling containers for use during special events to encourage recycling products. These units are light weight, very color full, and mobile for the staff to transport to different activities / locations.

2008 Madison County Park & Recreation Commission Grant(PEP Grant)
(Concrete new shelter, box blade, merry-go-round, rock-wall, 2 trash cans, back stop padding)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,490 grant through the Madison Count Park & Recreation Commission to purchase several pieces of equipment to make the park more enjoyable experience. This year’s grant we were able to purchase a 22’by44’ pad of concrete for the new pavilion and picnic tables, box blade to help prepare the ball fields, top rail guard to protect top of the fencing, back stop padding for the ball diamonds, 2 more trash can units, Merry-go-round and another rock-wall climbing unit.
2008 Madison County Recycled Poured Solid Surface Playground Grant
(Lions Park two double bay swing set units, 4th surface grant)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a grant valued for more than $25,000 through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to replace the fall surface under two double bay swing set unit, that have 8 total swings available to participants, total square footage of 2,300. This is the fourth project for the Village of East Alton and is located at Lions Park directly behind the Keasler Recreation Complex. The foundation for this product was once again prepared by the East Alton Public Works Department, saving the Village over $15,000. The product is then poured and set on top of the rock foundation, which gives the playground a quality low maintenance fall surface. This product brings a lot of color to the park.

The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $6,937.93 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to purchase a double sided message marquis to display the Memorial Tree and Memorial brick/stone program, 6 benches, 6 planter boxes and 6 trash cans, which all are made of recycled plastic materials to have available for the visitors at Vanpreter Park

2007 Madison County Park & Recreation Commission Grant(PEP Grant)
(Vanpreter Park Shelter, Rock-wall climbing unit, 2 in-ground trash receptacles)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,490 grant through the Madison Count Park & Recreation Commission to purchase a 20’x42’ park shelter (which replaced a 45 year old unit that had to be removed), rock wall climbing playground free standing unit and 2 more matching trash can units.
2007 Madison County Recycled Poured Solid Surface Playground Grant
(Vanpreter north end playground area, 3rd surface grant)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $16,000 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to replace the fall surface under three pieces of equipment, double bay swing set unit, merry-go-round and the new rock-wall climbing unit, area of 2,200 square feet. The foundation for this product was once again prepared by the East Alton Public Works Department, saving the Village over $15,000. The product is then poured and set on top of the rock foundation, which gives the playground a quality low maintenance fall surface. This product brings a lot of color to the park.
2007 Madison County Recycled Content Park Equipment Grant
(6 benches, 6 hexagon picnic tables, 6 walk thru picnic tables)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $6,247 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to purchase 6 benches and 12 total picnic tables made of recycled plastic materials to have available for the visitors at Vanpreter Park. These new picnic tables will compliment the new pavilion that was obtained through the PEP grant.

2006 Madison County Park & Recreation Commission Grant(PEP Grant)
(Vanpreter 5 water fountains, 12 in-ground trash can units, merry-go-round, tire swing)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,079.12 grant through the Madison County Park & Recreation Commission to purchase 5 concrete curved water fountains for easy access, 12 steel coated in-ground trash units, merry-go-round, tire swing free standing unit and an infield groom attachment for preparing the diamonds at Vanpreter Park.
2006 Madison County Recycled Poured Solid Surface Playground Grant
(Lions Park main ground unit protective surface, 2nd surface grant)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $16,000 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to replace the fall surface under the main multiple playground unit located at Lions Park, 300 block of Ohio Street. This Park is located directly behind the Keasler Recreation Complex. The foundation for this product was prepared by the East Alton Public Works Department, saving the Village over $19,000. The product is then poured and set on top of the rock foundation, which gives the playground a quality low maintenance fall surface. This product brings a lot of color to the park.
2006 Madison Illinois Department of Commerce Digital Divide Grant
(Keasler Complex Computer Lab grant)
The Park & Recreation Department received a $32,505 from the Illinois Department of Commerce to help provide a computer lab and computer classes to the Village of East Alton and surround communities. This grant opportunity is a step to help provide knowledge to “bridge the gap” of people and technology. This grant help provide the resource for the equipment purchase and instructor fees to provide the following computer classes: basic computer technology, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Building your Resume’, Learning the Internet and more.
2005
Madison County Community Development Grant $125,000
(Keasler Phase II Structural Improvements, Heating & Cooling)

This
very competitive grant was offered through the Madison County
Community Development. The Village of East Alton was awarded
$125,000 to be used as Phase II which will consist of many
structural improvements to the Keasler Recreation Complex.
This grant required an architect to oversee the project
to ensure quality work, which the Village awarded Lefferson
Associates the bid. Tindall Construction was awarded the
bid for the project. This grant provided resources to replace
the administrative / meeting room roof and the kid's activity
room roof and install new gutters and down spouts for the
two roof areas. This grant will also install new doors and
commodes to two restrooms in order to make them handicap
assessable. The grant funds will also assist with installing
heating & cooling unit for meeting room area and heating
& cooling unit for the administrative / counter area.

2005 Madison County Park & Recreation Commission Grant(PEP Grant)
(Vanpreter Kubota lawn mower, aerator, 7 in-ground picnic tables)
The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,490 grant through the Madison County Park & Recreation Commission to purchase a 60” 4 wheel drive riding mower for Vanpreter Park, a 5’ aerator attachment for the park tractor, and 7 square in-ground picnic tables for visitors at Vanpreter park.

The Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $13,671 grant through the Madison County Planning and Development Department to replace the fall surface under the playground equipment located at the north end of Vanpreter Park. The foundation for this product was installed by the East Alton Public Works Department, saving the Village over $12,000. The product is then poured and set on top of the rock foundation, which gives the playground a quality low maintenance fall surface. This product brings a lot of color to the park.

The
Park & Recreation Department was awarded a $13,340 grant
through the Madison Count Park & Recreation Commission
to replace diamond light poles at Vanpreter Park, diamond
4, which were deteriorating. This grant also allowed the
Parks Department to add an additional light to light up
the warm up area near diamond 4 and re-use a partial light
pole to install lighting at the main playground. Wegman
Electric was awarded the bid and did a fantastic job, which
at many times went above what was expected. This grant opportunity
allowed the Parks Department continue to provide a quality,
but safe facilities which making improvements, too. Thank
you Madison County Park and Recreation Commission for this
grant opportunity and thank you Mayor Fred Bright and Village
Board of Trustees for all of your support.
2003
Madison County Community Development Grant $125,000
(Keasler Phase I Structural Improvements, Exterior Doors,
Rear Entrance Door)

This
grant was awarded through Madison County Community Development,
which is a very competitive grant. The Village of East Alton
was awarded $125,000 to be used as structural improvements
to the Keasler Recreation Complex. This grant required an
architect to oversee the project to ensure quality work.
Lefferson Associates was the architect firm and Morgan Construction
was awarded the bid for the project. This grant provided
resources to replace the gymnasium roof, lower and replace
the game room roof, replace the auditorium roof, all gutters
and down spout for the roof areas replaced, replace all
entry doors (11 total) to the facility and install a new
rear door entrance to the facility. These improvements not
only improved the building structurally, but also made the
rear access to the building better and really improved the
security for supervision. Thank you Madison County Community
Development for grant opportunities like this one to make

This
grant opportunity was offered through the Madison County
Park & Recreation Commission for Parks Department to
purchase playground equipment. This $6,787.40 grant allowed
the East Alton Park & Recreation to purchase semi-permanent
soccer goals for our youth soccer program, 2 swing set units
with double bays (one located at Vanpreter north end and
one unit located at Lions Park), a Cosmic Warp climbing
unit (located at Lions Park), Wave Rider See-Saw unit (located
at Lions Park) and over 250' of poly cap to cover the baseball
fields fence tops at Vanpreter Park. Thank you Madison County
Park & Recreation Commission for opportunities to improve
our recreation facilities to make them a better place to

2001
Madison County Recycling Plastic Grant
(Vanpreter north end playground unit)

This
grant opportunity was through the Madison County Park Recycling
Display Grant Program to help fund park equipment made from
recycle plastic materials. This $5,000 grant help fund the
playground unit located at the north end of Vanpreter Park.
Prior to this grant opportunity, Vanpreter had to remove
the playground units due to safety reasons. The playground
equipment that was installed consists of two spring ride
toys, balance beam, playground unit with several activities
like rings, slide, climbing ladder and ring-a-ling. The
parks department was also able to purchase two recycling
units for the area, too. Thank you Madison County Environmental
Department for grant opportunities like this one, which
makes our park a better place to visit. Thank you Mayor
Bright and Board of Trustees for all of your support.

Madison County Recycling Plastic Grant
(Lions Park Playground Unit)

This
grant opportunity was available through the Madison County
Recycling Plastic Grant Program. This $10,000 grant provided
the funding for the Parks Department to install a large
playground unit and 10 picnic tables, four benches and recycling
containers for participants to use. The materials used we
primarily made from recycle plastic materials. This equipment
was installed in Lions Park located at the rear of the Keasler
Recreation Complex. Thank you Madison County Environmental
Department for providing grant opportunities like this one
to improve our parks. Thank you Mayor Fred Bright and Village
Board of Trustees for all of your support.
