Officer Profiles

Dwynn D. Isringhausen
Chief

Chief Isringhausen began his career with the Village of East Alton I 1986 as a dispatcher clerk. In June of 1989 he was promoted to the rank of probationary patrolman after successful completion of the testing procedures. Chief Isringhausen was promoted to Sergeant in 1997 and led a shift until his promotion to Major. Chief Isringhausen has been involved with the investigations division as well as the appointment as the special response team commander.

Chief Isringhausen began his criminal justice profession while attending college at the Lewis & Clark Community College. Chief Isringhausen completed his Associates Degree and continued his education by attending classes at Concordia University at the St. Louis Campus. After completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in the Administration of Justice, Chief Isringhausen has entered graduate studies at Lindenwood University to work towards a Masters Degree in the Science of Administration.

Brent Wells

Detective Sergeant

 

Sgt. Wells enlisted into the Marine Corps after high school. He served as infantrymen having the opportunity to deploy in Operation Desert Storm and in Central America. He received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of a Sergeant. Officer Wells received a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and was promoted to Sergeant in 2005.

Before employment with the EAPD, Officer Wells worked at Menard Correctional Center as an officer. Officer Wells held a position on the Tactical Response Team and received the team's officer of the year award. Officer Wells also worked as a part-time Police Officer for the Marissa PD.

He joined the East Alton Police Department in January of 1997 after finishing the police academy. He received the S.I.P.C.A. award for outstanding performance at the police academy. He also serves as the firearms instructor, gang crime expert and is certified by the DEA in clandestine lab operations.

He currently serves as the PB&PA Unit #78 president and is a member of the Major Case Squad. Officer Wells enjoys living in the community and serving the police department in keeping the community safe.

Brian Archer

Sergeant of Patrol

 

Sergeant Brian Archer has lived in the East Alton area his entire life. Sgt. Archer graduated from the East Alton – Wood River High School in 1985 and immediately joined the US Marine Corp after graduation. He arrived in San Diego, California just three days after his high school graduation to start a 6 year enlistment.

After training, Sgt. Archer was first assigned to Marine Security Forces Battalion in the Philippines. He served over a year (15 months) as a Corporal of the guard and Reactionary Force team leader. He was next assigned to the weapons company, 2nd Battalion 9th Marines, 1st Marine division. He served 4 ½ more years as a squad leader in the assault platoon. He was deployed twice to Okinawa, Japan and again to the Philippines in 1990 and 1991, where his platoon was assigned to defend Naval and Air force Bases against terrorist activity during Desert Storm.

After his discharge, Sgt. Archer was employed in the security field prior to being hired by the East Alton Police Department in 1994. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2004 He holds the position of rifle instructor and member of the Strategic Response team. Sgt. Archer is a competitive strongman and holds the title of 2008 Illinois Strongest Man.

Charles Keshner
Sergeant of Patrol

Sgt. Charles (Charlie) Keshner had a lifelong dream of becoming a Police Officer. Sgt. Keshner completed his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis and Clark College. After graduating, Sgt. Keshner started his career as a Police Officer for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He served as a patrol officer with the St. Louis Metro Police Department in Districts #6 and Dist #3, for over four year.

Sgt. Keshner decided he wanted live closer to his home town, Godfrey, so he decided to apply for the East Alton Police Department. Sgt. Keshner was hired in the latter part of 1999 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2006. He currently serves as a bike patrol officer, Taser Instructor, supervisor of the field training officer program and the instructor for Defensive Tactics. Sgt Keshner is active member of the East Alton (SRT) Strategic Response Team. Sgt Keshner is the Vice President for the East Alton PB&PA unit #78.

Sgt Keshner has received letters of Accommodation in 2000, 2005 and 2007 for outstanding performance.

Dave Shook

Sergeant of Patrol

 

David Shook attended East Alton Wood River High School and has lived in the area all his life. David Shook started his career in 1996.

Officer Shook is a member of the Major Case Squad and an accident reconstruction investigator. He was promoted to Sergeant in August 2008

Eric Staten

Sergeant of Patrol

 

Eric Staten started his career in 1990. Sgt. Staten attended Alton High School. Sgt. Staten graduated at Lewis and Clark Community College with an AAS in Criminal Justice before being employed at East Alton Police.

 

Jeremy Tarrant

Patrol Officer

 

Officer Officer Tarrant enlisted into the US Army in May of 1996 as a Combat Engineer. After basic training, Officer Tarrant was stationed in Ft. Leonardwood, Mo. Officer Tarrant served two years of active duty with Charlie Co. 5th Engineer Battalion before receiving orders to Giessen Germany. Officer Tarrant served another two years of active duty with Alpha Co 16th Engineer Battalion. Officer Tarrant received an honorable discharge from active duty and enlisted into the Illinois National Guard as a Combat Engineer with the 135th Engineers based out of Lawrenceville, Illinois.

In 2001, Officer Tarrant volunteered for deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2002, Officer Tarrant was deployed with the 131st Infantry based out of Kankakee, Illinois to Hoenfels Germany. Officer Tarrant later received an honorable discharge from the Illinois National Guard at the rank of Sergeant after serving four years Officer Tarrant, upon return to the United States, was hired by the East Alton Police Department in September of 2002.

Officer Tarrant is currently a member of the East Alton Police Departments SRT team and has successfully completed training in Mechanical Breaching at Olive Security Training Center, and Basic SWAT in Springfield, Illinois with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department.

Christian Cranmer
Detective

Detective Cranmer decided to pursue a career in law enforcement when he was around 16 years of age. Prior to being employed by the Village of East Alton, Cranmer was a member of the Alton Police Department Explorer Post. Detective Cranmer furthered his experience by obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice through the Lewis and Clark Community College. While attending college Detective Cranmer participated in an internship program with the Wood River Police Department. Detective Cranmer began his career in East Alton in 2004. Cranmer is currently assigned to the investigations division, and is in charge of the East Alton Dare program; Cranmer plans to further his education by obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Cranmer appreciates his opportunity to serve the village and hopes to continue for many years.

Michael McCormick
Patrol Officer

Officer McCormick attended Edwardsville High School and then attended Lewis and Clark College graduating with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer McCormick worked part time at the South Roxana Police Department before joining the East Alton Police Department in 2005. Officer McCormick now serves as the department’s firearms instructor, Field Training Officer, as well as an active member of the Strategic Response Team (SRT).

Aaron Burns
Patrol Officer

Officer Burns graduated from Vandalia Community High School and had aspirations of becoming a Police Officer. Burns joined the U.S. Coast Guard in order to get Law Enforcement training, experience and financial assistance for college. While in the USCG Burns was stationed on a 110ft Coast Guard Cutter that was responsible for Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement throughout southern U. S. and Straits of Florida. Burns then transferred to USCG Small Boat Station Key West and continued his career in Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement throughout the Florida Key’s. Burns then pursued his goal of becoming a Police Officer and became a USCG reservist.

Officer Burns began employment at East Alton Police Department. During the Police Academy Burns graduated with top honors receiving; 1st place in Physical Fitness, 2nd in Fire Arms Competition and Most Outstanding Cadet in his academy session.

Gerald Bemis
Patrol Officer

Officer Bemis is a 1991 graduate of Alton High School and a lifetime Riverbend area resident. Officer Bemis attended S.I.U.E. for two years ten Palmer College of Chiropractic where he graduated in 1997 with a Bachelors degree in General Science and a Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree. After 11 years of chiropractic practice with his family in Alton and while continuing to practice part=time, Officer Bemis pursued a lifelong dream of his and began employment with the East Alton Police Department in September of 2008. Officer Bemis attended session 107 of the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy where he graduated at the top of his class academically and was elected by his peers to represent them as class president. Officer Bemis has thoroughly enjoyed his transition into law enforcement and looks forward to serving the citizens of this community.

David Knight

Records Division

 

Dave Knight attended East Alton Wood River High School and joined the department in 1996 after serving three years in the US Army. Dave Knight's calm ability to handle emergency calls and deal with serious incidents at the communications department are extremely valuable and an asset to the department. T/C Knight has efficiently taken on the responsibilities of the records division supervisor and the LEADS Coordinator

Shannon D. Hobbs

Telecommunicator

 

Telecommunicator Hobbs began his career at the East Alton Police Department as a patrol officer. Over the 27 years he was an officer he worked the patrol, and detective division. T/C Hobbs was a member of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, and retired as the Administrative Sergeant. Upon his retirement as an officer he joined the department as a telecommunicator.

Michael Young
Telecommunicator

T/C Young graduated from the East Alton Wood River High School in 2005 and continued his education at the Lewis and Clark Community College. T/C Young was awarded an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science/Criminal Justice. T/C Young joined the East Alton Police Department in December of 2007. T/C Young looks forward to many years to come in the law enforcement community.

Michael Bunt
Telecommunicator

Michael bunt a lifelong resident and former student of the Roxana School District came to the department after several years of fire and medical service. T/C Bunt an officer with the Rosewood Heights fire department has worked with the community for several years in a serving capacity. The experience of assisting the citizens during the stressful and chaotic times has enabled T/C Bunt to remain calm and professional. Michael Bunt has attended the Lewis and Clark Community College, and is seeking an education to further his criminal justice career.
