The
East Alton Fire Department is a combination Fire Department.
Its full time staff includes, Fire Chief, Captain, and two
Lieutenants and two Engineers. The Station is staffed 24 hours
per day by two personnel.
The
department also is assisted by 12 Paid-On-Call Firefighters,
which are called upon to assist in fire responses. These firefighters
are trained professionals much like the career members. All
Firefighters go through a rigorous training program and become
Firefighter II certified by the Illinois State Fire Marshals
Office.
The
Fire Departments response area is approximately 10 square
miles in size. A large part of our jurisdiction includes Olin
Manufacturing.
Our
Station is located at 209 N. Shamrock and houses our truck
fleet of one pumper, one 75-foot Ladder truck, and our heavy
Rescue.
The
East Alton Fire Department responds to about 800 to 900 calls
per year with about 50% being Emergency Medical responses.
The
East Alton Fire Department is always looking for anyone who
may be able to participate in Paid-On-Call firefighter positions.
We require a high level of physical agility and commitment,
so, if you think you can make the grade, please stop in or
give us a call. We’ll be glad to provide you with more information,
or, click on the task bar “Paid-On-Call Firefighters” to
find information on benefits, requirements, and training.
