Thank
you for your interest in our fire department. I hope that
you find this information useful in answering questions you
may have about our department.
The
East Alton Fire Department is permitted to hold an active
membership of 18 Paid-On-Call firefighters. This number fluctuates
from time to time, new members join, and others leave for
various reasons. The Paid-On-Call positions are exactly what
it implies - you receive compensation for responding to any
incidents. Please keep in mind that to serve your community
as a firefighter for the East Alton Fire Department can sometimes
require long hours of your time. Members leave the department
because they move out of town, resign for personal reasons,
retire from active service, or simply resign because of the
ever-growing responsibility of being a member in such an active
organization.
Those
who accept the responsibility to help those in need; to those
who serve honorably to benefit the community; and to those
who perform admirably and relentlessly whenever and wherever
the demand should arise are the people we are looking for.
We hope this may be you!
The
East Alton Fire Department is composed of many members who
have devoted their valuable time to the fire service. And
more importantly, ordinary people who live in this community.
People who live ordinary lives - Working men and women - With
families and children. Men and women who have devoted not
only their time to the fire service, but to serving the community
in which they live.
